VERTEBROSTEEL™
Vertebroplasty needle – Steel handle
VERTEBROSTEEL™ is intended to be used in Vertebroplasty procedures
to inject cement into the vertebral body.
- All-metal version;
- Tip direction indicator;
- The enhanced design of the steel handle allows easy handling of the needle;
- Ergonomic grip;
- AISI 304 stainless steel cannula and stylet;
- Bevel plus or trocar tip;
- Small size of the handle: allows treating many close vertebrae even in presence of scoliosis, without the problem of handles crowding each other.
Vertebral compression fracture (VCF) refers to a break in any of the bones (vertebrae) of the spinal column. It usually occurs when the front of the vertebral body collapses and may be caused by:
- OSTEOPOROSIS: painful osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures without posterior wall involvement;
- TRAUMA: painful vertebral compression fractures;
- CANCER: treatment of osteolytic lesions located within the vertebral body with intact cortical shell.
If conservative treatment is not enough, a cement augmentation procedure could be an effective treatment, reducing the risk of subsequent fractures.
Vertebroplasty is a very well established technique for treating back pain caused by severe osteoporosis or tumours with consequent loss of height or fracture of the vertebral body.
A coaxial biopsy can also be performed using our VERTEBRAL BIOPSY DEVICES.
Surgical technique:
- Under fluoroscopic guidance, identify the entry point and advance the needle through soft tissue until it touches the vertebral bone surface.
- Apply controlled pressure and rotational movements to penetrate the bone, adjusting the needle’s direction under AP and lateral fluoroscopic control.
- Ensure the needle tip reaches the medial edge of the pedicle, checking depth and positioning continuously.
- Under lateral fluoroscopic view, advance the cannula tip to the anterior half of the vertebral body, ensuring correct placement before PMMA injection. Advance the tip of the cannula until it reaches the anterior half of the vertebral body.
- Prepare the bone cement with the CEMIX™ cement mixer.
- Inject the cement connecting the EASYNJECT™ cement delivery system to the VERTEBROSTEEL™ device.
