BIOSOFT™

Automatic aspiration device for histological biopsy

BIOSOFT™ is a disposable automatic aspiration device used in the main histological biopsies.
  • Fegato
  • Polmoni
  • Reni
  • Possibility to perform the biopsy with one hand, thanks to the presence of a spring that allows the sample to be taken automatically.
  • Speed and certainty of biopsy performance.
  • The particular sharpening of the tip enables users to obtain an integral sample, through a simple and non-traumatic penetration.
  • The centimetre depth markings allow a safe positioning of the needle.
  • The sliding stopper enables pre-definition of the penetration depth.
  • Two versions are available:
    – with a fixed cannula;
    – with a removable cannula.

Major histological biopsies, such as those of the kidney, liver, and lungs, often require automatic aspiration biopsy systems to obtain high-quality tissue samples while minimizing bleeding, patient discomfort and complications.

  • Kidney Biopsy: performed to diagnose kidney diseases, monitor transplant rejection, or assess disease progression. Typically done percutaneously using ultrasound or CT guidance with an automatic core biopsy needle, which ensures a precise and consistent sample.
  • Liver Biopsy: used to evaluate liver conditions like hepatitis, cirrhosis, and tumours. Automatic aspiration (core) needles improve sample quality and reduce fragmentation, which is crucial for accurate histological analysis.
  • Lung Biopsy: Essential for diagnosing lung cancer, infections, and interstitial lung diseases. CT-guided automatic biopsy devices provide rapid sample retrieval while minimizing lung trauma.

BIOSOFT™ allows for controlled, rapid tissue acquisition with minimal bleeding risk, making it a preferred choice for deep organ biopsies.

Surgical Technique:

  • Load the needle by pressing the plunger until the anterior button is felt to engage.
  • Insert the needle tip into the selected biopsy site and proceed under ultrasound guidance.
  • Press the anterior firing button to start automatic aspiration. Advance the needle approximately 2 cm to take the sample.
  • Slowly withdraw the needle.
  • To retrieve the frustule near the needle tip, reload the device by pressing the rear plunger and deposit the sample on a slide.
