Kit for cytological aspiration for prenatal diagnosis

The VA-CVS™ kit is a single-use device designed for transabdominal chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis, two key prenatal diagnostic procedures.

It allows for the collection of chorionic villi or amniotic fluid to facilitate fetal genetic analysis, aiding in the early detection of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome.

Precise and Controlled Needle Insertion: the procedure involves inserting a Chiba or modified Chiba tip needle under ultrasound guidance to accurately reach the placenta (for CVS) or the amniotic sac (for amniocentesis). The needle’s echogenic marker enhances its visibility under ultrasound, ensuring precise placement. Additionally, centimetre markings along the needle assist the operator in determining the correct insertion depth.

Secure and Efficient Aspiration: the needle is securely connected to a 10 ml vacuum collection tube using a Luer-lock connector (20G, 0.9 mm), ensuring a closed and contamination-free system. A holder and plug mechanism further stabilizes the connection, maintaining sample integrity.

Reliable Sample Collection and Transport: the collected chorionic villus or amniotic fluid sample is securely contained within the vacuum tube and transported to the laboratory for genetic testing.
