Embryo transfer catheter for easy, uncomplicated transfers, suitable when the cervix is well-aligned and without significant scarring or stenosis.
- Soft, flexible distal portion
- Rigid proximal portion
- Echogenic tip, facilitating an eco-guided insertion
- Markings placed at 50-60-70 mm from the tip, for a correct placement into the uterine cavity
- Luer-lock connector that serves as a finger grip
Surgical technique:
- Introduce the speculum, expose the cervix, and if possible, gently remove the cervical mucus. Lightly swab the uterine cervix with a gauze soaked in embryo culture medium.
- Connect the catheter to an insulin syringe and introduce the catheter previously loaded with embryos into the uterine cavity.
- Release the embryos at the preselected point without touching the fundus. Graduation marks on the catheter aid correct placement of the embryos, and the echogenic tip allows for ultrasound-guided embryo transfer.
- Once embryos have been unloaded, slowly withdraw the catheter and check it under a stereomicroscope for any retained embryos.
