A new study published in Stem Cells International (2026) puts the BEAUTY/LIPO-STEM DUO™ system under the spotlight, comparing it directly with the Coleman technique, for years considered the gold standard in lipoaspirate processing for lipofilling.
The research, conducted by a team from the University of Verona in collaboration with De Clinic Milan and other Italian research centres, represents an important independent scientific validation of our mechanical adipose tissue processing system’s performance.
A comparison with the industry benchmark
The study involved 17 patients undergoing facial and neck lipofilling: in 5 cases, adipose tissue was processed using the Coleman technique, while the remaining 12 used the BEAUTY/LIPO-STEM DUO™ systems.
Researchers then analysed the residual tissue to assess adipocyte morphology, cellular growth, and the regenerative potential of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs).
The very design of the study is itself a significant result: BEAUTY/LIPO-STEM DUO™ was selected as a direct benchmark against the gold standard, confirming its relevance as a closed-loop mechanical processing system.
What the study found
Histological analysis shows that both methods preserve adipocyte integrity and morphology, a fundamental requirement for obtaining quality tissue for reimplantation. Cells obtained with BEAUTY/LIPO-STEM DUO™ also displayed all the typical characteristics of mesenchymal stem cells, in line with international ISCT criteria.
Among the most interesting findings:
- Higher proliferative capacity. Cells processed with BEAUTY/LIPO-STEM DUO™ showed significantly greater growth than those obtained with Coleman during the first 7 and 14 days of culture, pointing to a strong early proliferative response.
- Higher secretion of extracellular vesicles (EVs). Samples processed with BEAUTY/LIPO-STEM DUO™ showed higher EV concentrations, key elements in cell communication and regenerative processes.
- Confirmed differentiation potential. In adipogenic and chondrogenic differentiation tests, samples processed with BEAUTY/LIPO-STEM DUO™ achieved comparable or, in some cases, superior results to Coleman, with no instance of inferior performance.
These results are consistent with the system’s working principle, based on continuous saline washing and mechanical microfragmentation in a closed loop, which removes biological and pharmacological residues while preserving the integrity of the adipose tissue.
An important step in scientific validation
The authors themselves note that the study represents preliminary in vitro evidence: the sample size is limited, and larger clinical studies will be needed to confirm these results.
Nevertheless, the work provides an important first independent scientific validation, showing that BEAUTY/LIPO-STEM DUO™ delivers performance at least comparable to the gold standard, with particularly encouraging signals on key biological parameters such as cell proliferation and extracellular vesicle production.

For us, this study marks both an important milestone and a starting point. We will continue supporting scientific research and clinical evidence gathering, with the goal of further exploring the regenerative potential of our processing systems and offering practitioners devices backed by increasingly robust scientific evidence.
